Islamabad, September 03, 2024: The Government of Pakistan has announced the introduction of a new Contributory Pension Fund Scheme for all civil employees of the Federal Government, including civilians paid from Defence Estimates.
The decision, which follows Cabinet approval (ECC-134/13/2024) on June 27, 2024, will affect all employees appointed on a regular basis from July 1, 2024, onwards.
The scheme mandates that employees contribute 10 percent of their basic pay towards the pension fund, while the Federal Government will contribute 20 percent.
These rates are currently provisional and may be subject to change in the future. Additionally, the scheme will extend to the Armed Forces personnel appointed on or after July 1, 2025.
