KARACHI, October 14 2024: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that all the companies working in Thatta district regarding renewable energy have to improve their CSR initiatives for the welfare of the local people, a foundation will be established comprising of Sindh government, elected representatives, energy department and representatives of companies to ensure more effective initiatives jointly.
He addressed a high-level meeting in the Sindh Energy Department’s office to review the CSR initiatives of companies in the renewable energy field. Minister Prison & Works and Services Ali Hasan Zardar, Minister Awqaf Religious Affairs & Zakat and Usher Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, MNA Sadiq Ali Memon, MPA Dr Sikandar Shoro, Secretary Energy Mossadegh Ahmed Khan, Project Director.
Alternative Energy Mahfouz Ahmad Qazi and representatives of companies working in Thatta district regarding renewable energy also participated. Ministers and elected representatives were informed about their suggestions and concerns regarding CSR. He said that we do not know the steps taken by the companies regarding CSR, so there is a need to take all the steps under one plate containing all the stakeholders so that more steps are taken for the local people. Improvements can be made.
Ministers Ali Hasan Zardar, Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, elected representatives of Thatta Sadiq Ali Memon, Dr. Sikandar Shoro said that the representatives of the companies should stay in touch with their respective elected representatives and in case of any difficulty, all possible help will be provided. He said that thousands of acres of land were given in Thatta district for the project and local people have the right to its royalty, employment etc.
Minister Nasir Shah said that for mutual communication and a common strategy, a WhatsApp group should be formed with all the stakeholders, thus maintaining close mutual relations. He said that the problems and difficulties of the companies should be solved at the federal and provincial levels. President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah are well aware of all the situations and are trying to solve the problems.
Nepra and other problems faced by the companies will also be prevented. Through joint consultation, the condition of schools and hospitals will be improved through CSR. Drinking water and employment issues will also be resolved. Treatment facilities for poor local people will be improved. Ministers and elected representatives thanked the energy minister and said that we are thankful that after a long time, we have been provided with such a platform through which we can serve the people better through CSR. The representatives of the companies also thanked Nasir Shah that they hoped that the problems faced us will be solved now and that we would get full support from the government.
