ISLAMABAD, October 23 2024: A significant meeting aimed at enhancing business-to-business (B2B) activities between China and Pakistan was held today, chaired by Federal Minister for Investment Board Abdul Aleem Khan. The meeting focused on upcoming roadshows in China, which will feature participation from Pakistani institutions in collaboration with the Board of Investment.
Minister Khan announced that major conventions for the leather and fisheries sectors will take place in various cities across China. The fisheries roadshow is scheduled for October 29 in Qingdao, followed by the leather show on November 5 in Guangzhou. A total of 30 representatives from 17 fisheries companies and 16 executives from 10 leather organizations are set to participate.
“The Pakistani business community can gain access to U.S. and European markets through global roadshows,” Khan emphasized, highlighting the Board of Investment’s strategic approach to fostering collaboration with Chinese enterprises. He identified seven key sectors for development, including leather, textiles, medical and surgical equipment, fruits and vegetables, plastics, fisheries, and animal feed.
Khan noted that the business partnership between Pakistan and China could prove to be a significant breakthrough for the country’s economy. He stressed the importance of increasing Pakistan’s share in the transfer of industries from China. In discussions with the Minister of Communications, he stated that a total of 168 Chinese companies and 78 Pakistani firms are actively working towards mutual collaboration.
He acknowledged the essential role of the Chinese Embassy in promoting business and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhance cooperation with Chinese partners. “Facilitating the Pakistani business community is our priority,” Khan stated, urging local companies to ensure strong B2B ties and explore joint ventures with Chinese firms.
Executives from notable Pakistani institutions attended the meeting, assuring their active participation in both roadshows. Additionally, the Federal Secretary of the Board of Investment and senior officials from the Pakistani Embassy in China contributed via an online briefing.
Minister Abdul Aleem Khan expressed gratitude to the Pakistani business organizations for their collaboration and practical support in strengthening ties with China.
