Tanzania, October 30, 2024: In a significant boost for Pakistan’s export sector, the first consignment of Pakistani-made tractors has successfully arrived in Tanzania, marking a major milestone in the nation’s trade relations with East Africa.
This achievement is the result of concerted efforts led by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, alongside key officials including Secretary Commerce Mr. Jawad Paul, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Mr. Zubair Multiwala, and Secretary TDAP Mr. Shehyar Taj.
Facilitated by the Pakistani High Commission
The import process was expertly facilitated by Pakistan’s High Commission in Kenya, particularly in Nairobi. High Commissioner Ibrar Hussain and Commercial Counsellor Adeela Younis played pivotal roles in coordinating with Masai Trekta Company Ltd, a Kenyan-Tanzania-based firm that has become integral to the success of this transaction.
Masai Trekta Company Ltd, having recently established its tractor distribution head office in Tanzania, is now a key partner in distributing Pakistani ATS tractors throughout Tanzania and aims to expand its reach across the region.
Strengthening Trade Ties
The tractors were imported from Pak-Tractors House, a prominent manufacturing company based in Lahore. The arrival of these tractors is expected to significantly strengthen Pakistan’s export portfolio in East Africa, opening up the potential for increased tractor exports not only to Tanzania but also to neighboring countries.
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan praised the collaborative efforts of government officials, TDAP, and the Pakistani High Commission in Nairobi. He expressed optimism that this achievement would inspire similar partnerships in the future.
Khan emphasized that such trade developments not only bolster Pakistan’s manufacturing sector but also enhance the nation’s economic footprint in the African market.
A Commitment to Global Trade
This accomplishment reflects Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to expanding its trade partnerships on a global scale, with a particular focus on Africa. The partnership with Masai Trekta Company Ltd is poised to drive further export growth, benefiting Pakistan’s agricultural machinery sector and providing East Africa with high-quality, reliable equipment.
As Pakistan continues to forge new trade relationships, the successful delivery of these tractors serves as a promising indication of the nation’s potential in the international market, paving the way for future ventures in the region.
