ISLAMABAD, November 19 2024: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has entered into a consultancy agreement with National Economic Research Associates Inc. (NERA) to enhance next-generation mobile broadband services in Pakistan. The contract, signed on 5th November 2024, focuses on the ‘Release of IMT Spectrum,’ a key initiative aimed at improving mobile broadband services across the country.
As part of the agreement, NERA will provide expert consultancy services and has already initiated stakeholder consultations. The firm will advise the government on the key aspects of the upcoming spectrum release process, including the proposed reforms, spectrum valuation, and the auction design.
The PTA aims to complete the entire process by April 2025, which is expected to significantly enhance mobile broadband services and contribute to the development of Pakistan’s telecommunication infrastructure. This strategic step is in line with PTA’s commitment to advancing technological capabilities and fostering a more connected and digital Pakistan.
