Seminar on ‘Future of Petroleum Engineering in Hydrocarbon Industry’

Karachi, December 20, 2019: Petroleum Institute of Pakistan (PIP) in collaboration with NED University of Engineering & Technology organized a seminar on the topic of “Future of Petroleum Engineering in Hydrocarbon Industry” on 19th December 2019 at NEDUET premises, Karachi.

The seminar comprehended and addressed the future of petroleum engineering in the hydrocarbon industry of Pakistan in light with the changing energy trends and happenings with global best practices (of comparable countries) and industry-academia liaison.

The seminar topic was presented by Mr. Shoaib Farooqui – Country Director, Weatherford Oil Tools M.E. Ltd. Pakistan. The session provided participants with valuable thoughts and innovative ideas to foster collaborative thinking in order to address country’s challenges. The speaker emphasized on the need to enable students with the type of skills that will support the learning needs of the future to adapt to changing energy trends.

The seminar was attended by senior officials of the energy community. The participants appreciated PIP’s efforts in establishing a linkage between the academia and the industry. The event ended with vote of thanks and concluding remarks by Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi – Vice Chancellor NEDUET and committed eagerness to work with the industry professionals and stakeholders to discuss, deliberate, refine and implement various suggestions of the seminar.

Petroleum Institute of Pakistan (PIP) is a professional, non-government body established in 1963 with a vision to establish itself as a credible energy advisory body relied upon by the Government of Pakistan, industry and academic institutions in service of national development objectives. PIP currently has a membership of 21 major oil & gas companies operating in Pakistan. The Institute is the country representative of important international bodies such as the World Petroleum Council (WPC).
