foodpanda Adds USD 1.2 Billion to Pakistan’s Economy in 2023-24: LUMS Study

Karachi – August 6, 2025: The study highlights how foodpanda is helping many parts of the economy including food, retail, transport, and online services. In just one year, foodpanda generated PKR 75 billion in sales for restaurants, paid PKR 9.76 billion in taxes, and supported over 50,000 riders and many small business owners.

Muntaqa Peracha, CEO of foodpanda Pakistan, said the report proves how important foodpanda is for the country. “We are proud to support jobs, income, and innovation in Pakistan,” he said.

Dr. Kashif Z. Malik from LUMS said that foodpanda is doing much more than food delivery. “It is helping people earn money, grow small businesses, and improve digital and financial access,” he added.

The report also shared the following key facts:

  • 13,000+ restaurants saw their income double
  • 7,000+ HomeChefs, mostly women, earned about PKR 120,000 per month
  • 57% of riders saw an increase in their income

The study shows that foodpanda is helping Pakistan grow its digital economy, support small businesses, and create jobs for many people.
