KARACHI, Aug. 6, 2026: The Aga Khan University (AKU) has launched the AKU Manual of Pediatrics, a free digital clinical resource designed to help healthcare professionals diagnose and manage common childhood illnesses across Pakistan.
The manual, developed by AKU’s Department of Paediatrics and Child Health and the Centre for Clinical Best Practices, offers 88 evidence-based clinical guidelines covering 14 pediatric subspecialties. It is available free through the AKU Manual website and mobile app.
Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal launched the manual and said evidence-based tools are essential to improving the quality and consistency of child healthcare in Pakistan.
The launch ceremony brought together representatives from the Pakistan Paediatric Association (PPA), Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI), Sindh Institute of Child Health and Neonatology (SICHN), and other healthcare organizations.
AKU President Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin said the manual aims to equip healthcare professionals with reliable, evidence-based knowledge to improve clinical decisions and child health outcomes.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Fyezah Jehan, Chair of AKU’s Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, said the initiative bridges global medical evidence with Pakistan’s local healthcare needs, making clinical guidance more practical and accessible.
