Amanda Seyfried had a candid and relatable moment during the 2026 Golden Globe Awards after missing out on a win in a highly competitive category.
During the ceremony, the 40-year-old actress appeared briefly disappointed when Rose Byrne was announced as the winner of Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Cameras captured Seyfried wincing momentarily before she applauded Byrne and stood as the audience gave the winner a round of applause.

Seyfried had been nominated for her role in The Testament of Ann Lee in a category that also included Emma Stone, Cynthia Erivo, Jennifer Hudson and Chase Infiniti.
The night brought another disappointment for the actress later in the ceremony, when she was also nominated for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television. That award ultimately went to Michelle Williams.

Earlier on the red carpet, Seyfried had jokingly acknowledged the possibility of walking away empty-handed. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she quipped that losing twice in one evening would be “unprecedented,” adding humour to the high-pressure awards night.
Despite the near misses, Seyfried remains a Golden Globe winner, having taken home the award in 2023 for her portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout.
