KARACHI June 17,2026: Residents of FB Area Block 14, Naseerabad have been without gas supply for over 15 consecutive days, triggering frustration over what they describe as persistent negligence by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
The prolonged outage has severely disrupted daily routines, forcing families to rely on restaurants and hotels for meals while many households report that children are unable to get home-cooked breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Residents said they repeatedly contacted SSGC’s helpline 1199, only to receive routine assurances that the issue would be fixed within 24 to 48 hours. However, more than two weeks later, supply remains suspended.
Adding to their anger, residents claim that when they checked the status of their complaints, they were marked as “resolved” despite no restoration of gas supply. They say this has exposed serious flaws in the company’s complaint handling system and field response mechanism.
The affected community has now approached Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik, urging immediate intervention. They have demanded restoration of gas supply without further delay and disciplinary action against responsible officials, including staff at the Ayesha Manzil Customer Centre and the relevant technical teams.
“SSGC employees are drawing salaries but failing to perform their duties responsibly. We urge the minister to hold those accountable so citizens are not left to suffer,” residents said in their joint appeal.
The situation highlights growing public dissatisfaction with SSGC’s service delivery and raises fresh questions about accountability and operational efficiency in the country’s gas distribution network.
