KARACHI, Aug. 7, 2026: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Sindh Police reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation for a safer business environment during an Independence Day ceremony held at the FPCCI Head Office in Karachi.
The event, hosted by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh, was attended by Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho as the chief guest. Prominent business leaders, industrialists, and representatives of trade organizations also participated in the gathering, which paid tribute to police martyrs for their sacrifices in safeguarding the country.
Addressing the ceremony, Atif Ikram Sheikh said the business community stands in solidarity with the families of police martyrs, adding that peace, security, and economic activity are possible because of the sacrifices made by law enforcement personnel.
He noted that official figures for the first six months of 2026 showed an 11.77% decline in overall street crime and major offences in Karachi compared with the same period last year. He added that murders fell by 17.3%, while vehicle snatching dropped by 24.3%.
FPCCI Senior Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon emphasized the importance of stronger public-private collaboration between the business community and law enforcement agencies. He said supporting the families of fallen police personnel remains a shared responsibility.
Vice President Asif Sakhi called for closer coordination between Sindh Police and FPCCI to enhance investor confidence and ensure a secure environment for businesses across the province.
Muhammad Ikram Rajput, Convener of FPCCI’s Sindh Regional Standing Committee on Law and Order, highlighted the need for improved security coordination in industrial zones and praised the efforts of police personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, IG Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho thanked the FPCCI leadership for its support and acknowledged the sacrifices of police martyrs. He said intelligence-led policing had helped reduce violent street crime, vehicle theft, and robberies in Karachi during the first half of 2026, while security operations in the riverine areas of upper Sindh had also achieved positive results.
He reaffirmed Sindh Police’s commitment to sustaining the improving security situation to protect citizens and support economic and commercial growth.
