KARACHI, September 9, 2026: Pakistan received US$3.7 billion in workers’ remittances during August 2026, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Remittances increased by 16.5% year-on-year in August. They also rose by 0.7% month-on-month, showing continued growth in inflows from overseas Pakistanis.
During the first two months of fiscal year 2026-27, workers’ remittances increased by 14.7% to US$7.3 billion. Pakistan received US$6.4 billion during the same period last year.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in August. Pakistanis working in the country sent US$873.5 million during the month.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed with US$749.8 million. The United Kingdom contributed US$563.7 million, while remittances from the United States reached US$308.9 million.
The latest figures highlight the continued importance of overseas Pakistanis in supporting the country’s foreign exchange inflows.
The strong growth in remittances during July-August FY27 also provides support to Pakistan’s external account and helps strengthen the availability of foreign exchange.
