In this context, the Standing Committee on Home Affairs of the Sindh Assembly holds an important meeting chaired by Faryal Talpur. Moreover, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho, and other senior officials attend the session. Their participation shows the government treats narcotics as a serious social and security issue.
During the meeting, officials brief participants on the case of drug trafficker Anmol alias Pinki. They explain that agencies do not only target individuals. Instead, they work to dismantle full networks, including facilitators and supply chains. As a result, authorities aim for long-term disruption rather than short-term arrests.
Meanwhile, Faryal Talpur stresses zero tolerance for drug traffickers and their support networks. She says drugs destroy both individuals and entire generations. Therefore, she calls for joint action by institutions, parents, teachers, and elected representatives.
In addition, Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar reaffirms a strict zero-tolerance policy. He states that Sindh will not allow criminal networks to threaten the future of youth. Consequently, the government strengthens enforcement and monitoring efforts.
Furthermore, the Anti-Narcotics Force briefs the committee on rehabilitation centers. It confirms that facilities already operate in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur. At the same time, officials propose new centers. Therefore, the committee shifts focus toward both enforcement and recovery. Faryal Talpur also directs authorities to expand rehabilitation services.
Similarly, the Education Department reports ongoing awareness campaigns in schools and colleges. It also trains students and teachers to prevent drug use. As a result, educational institutions act as the first line of defense against narcotics.
