KARACHI, September 3, 2026: Growing public interest in electric vehicles and rising demand for EV charging infrastructure were among the key highlights on the opening day of the Pakistan EV and Solar Expo at the Karachi Expo Centre.
The expo brought together a range of clean-energy products, including electric motorcycles, cars and rickshaws, along with solar panels, inverters and EV charging equipment.
Electric motorcycles attracted considerable attention from visitors, while electric rickshaws also emerged as a major attraction. The strong interest in fast EV chargers further highlighted the growing need for reliable charging infrastructure as electric mobility gains ground in Pakistan.
Malik Group Chairman Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Pakistan’s civil distributor of electric fast chargers, said demand for EV chargers was increasing rapidly across the country.
The company aims to install 3,000 EV chargers across Pakistan within the next three years, while the Sindh government has also placed a major order for electric vehicle chargers.
The Malik Group displayed a range of charging solutions at the expo, including 80kW, 120kW and 160kW fast chargers, as well as other EV and DC chargers.
Khuda Bakhsh said Pakistan’s electric vehicle market was developing rapidly, with vehicles across different categories increasingly entering the local market. He described EVs as the future of transportation and stressed the importance of expanding charging infrastructure alongside their adoption.
He also highlighted the potential of combining solar power with electric mobility. Greater use of solar energy and EVs, he said, could help reduce the impact of rising petrol and electricity costs while lowering the country’s dependence on imported fuel.
Electric rickshaws were another prominent feature of the exhibition. Haris Khan, CEO of an electric rickshaw manufacturing company, said the company’s vehicle was priced at approximately Rs1 million.
The rickshaw can travel around 120 kilometres on a single charge, while its battery takes approximately four to five hours to fully charge.
According to the company, the electric rickshaw has already been introduced in Karachi and is expected to become available to consumers within the next 30 days.
A delegation of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA), including Tariq Hassan, Anwar Kamal and Saeed Khan, also attended the expo. The delegation, accompanied by Malik Group Chairman Malik Khuda Bakhsh, inaugurated the exhibition at the Malik Group’s stall at the Karachi Expo Centre.
