KARACHI, Aug. 7, 2026: SITE Association of Industry President Abdul Rehman Fudda urged the government to provide immediate relief to the industrial sector, warning that soaring production costs, high energy prices, and policy uncertainty are threatening the survival of industries.
He said a strong industrial base is essential to increase exports, create jobs, attract investment, and support sustainable economic growth. However, he cautioned that Pakistan’s economic recovery could lose momentum if authorities fail to address the sector’s challenges.
Fudda said rising electricity and gas tariffs, higher production costs, expensive financing, and inconsistent economic policies have weakened industrial activity. Even so, he added, the business community continues to support the economy despite mounting pressure.
He urged the government to ensure competitive energy tariffs, simplify the tax system, clear pending refunds, improve the ease of doing business, and introduce investor-friendly policies. These measures, he said, would help local manufacturers compete in global markets and strengthen exports.
Furthermore, Fudda said Pakistan’s industrial sector has significant growth potential. However, unlocking that potential requires policy consistency, timely pro-business decisions, and regular consultation with the private sector.
He reaffirmed the industry’s commitment to supporting economic stability and national development. At the same time, he called on the government to restore business confidence through practical reforms and place industrial growth at the center of its economic agenda.
