KARACHI :Aug 7,2026:UBL National Innovation Hackathon 2026 concluded at the National Incubation Center (NIC) Karachi after a three-day innovation challenge. The event brought together 25 finalist teams selected from 1,281 applicants across Pakistan. NIC Karachi, an Ignite-funded initiative under the Ministry of IT & Telecom, organized the hackathon in collaboration with United Bank Limited (UBL).
The competition focused on technology-driven solutions for Pakistan’s banking, payments, and financial services sector. Participants competed in five categories: Artificial Intelligence in Banking, Blockchain and Digital Trust, UX/UI for Inclusive Financial Services, Open Banking APIs, and Emerging FinTech Solutions.
During the event, teams conducted user research, built prototypes, validated business models, and developed practical solutions to address real industry challenges. They also presented working prototypes supported by technical documentation, source code, cloud deployments, demo videos, and investor-ready pitch decks.
Meanwhile, industry experts mentored participants throughout the competition. Their guidance helped teams refine ideas, strengthen business models, and improve technical solutions.
The organizers awarded participation certificates to all finalist teams in recognition of their innovation, collaboration, and dedication.
Furthermore, the hackathon highlighted the ongoing partnership between UBL and NIC Karachi. Together, they continue to promote innovation, strengthen Pakistan’s FinTech ecosystem, and accelerate the development of market-ready digital solutions for the financial sector.
