Palace takes bold stand for Prince Harry amid security fight

Prince Harry’s relationship with the royal establishment has remained strained for several years, with tensions intensifying during his ongoing legal battle over UK security arrangements.

The Duke of Sussex is currently awaiting a decision on whether his taxpayer-funded police protection will be reinstated after he formally requested a risk-assessment review from the UK Home Secretary in October. Sources earlier this month suggested the outcome may be leaning in Harry’s favor, although no official verdict has yet been announced.

Despite previously describing the loss of his security as an “establishment stitch-up,” Buckingham Palace has pushed back against claims that it could influence the Home Office’s final decision.

A recent Mail on Sunday report claimed Prince Harry had already secured a favorable ruling, with the announcement expected to be a formality unless palace officials intervened. However, a royal aide dismissed the report as “both unjust and inaccurate,” according to GB News.

“The Palace has no such authority within Ravec,” the aide said, referring to the Royal and VIP Executive Committee. “While Palace representatives sit on the committee, it is not their role to provide threat analysis or recommend security measures.”

The aide added that such assessments are handled solely by intelligence and security professionals, as is standard practice whenever Prince Harry’s visits to the UK are reviewed under the Ravec process.

Meanwhile, a source familiar with the proceedings emphasized that no final recommendation has yet been made.

“I don’t know what the Risk Management Board’s recommendation to Ravec will be, but neither does anyone else,” the source said, noting that the review is still ongoing.

The developments come amid signs of a thaw in Prince Harry’s relationship with King Charles. Reports suggest Harry may extend an olive branch by inviting the monarch to attend — and possibly open — the upcoming Invictus Games ceremony alongside him.
