KARACHI, August 8, 2026: United Business Group (UBG) President Zubair Tufail has welcomed the joint defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, calling it an important step toward stronger strategic and diplomatic cooperation.
Tufail said the agreement, reached in Makkah Mukarramah, would strengthen ties among the three countries. He also described it as a positive development for peace and stability in the region.
According to him, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye already share strong historical, religious and cultural ties. Therefore, closer defence cooperation can further strengthen these relations.
He noted that changing regional and global conditions have increased the need for unity and mutual trust among Muslim countries. As a result, stronger cooperation among the three countries could benefit the wider Muslim world.
Tufail also expressed hope for greater defence technology sharing, joint training and exchange of expertise. These steps, he said, could further improve the defence capabilities of all three countries.
At the same time, he called for stronger economic cooperation. He urged Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye to expand trade, investment, industry and energy ties. He also encouraged private-sector joint ventures and regular trade and investment forums.
Tufail stressed that the agreement should not target any country. Instead, he said, it should support collective security, regional peace and stability.
He expressed hope that the agreement would take relations among the three countries to a new level and strengthen unity across the Muslim world.
