DUHS Holds Kashmir Solidarity Walks on Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir

KARACHI, Aug. 5, 2026: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) organized Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir walks at its two campuses, where students, faculty members, and staff expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

In her message, DUHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazli Hossain said India was violating international law by denying the rights of the Kashmiri people. She urged the international community to press India to implement the United Nations resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

She said Pakistan remains committed to supporting the Kashmiri people and described August 5, 2019, as a black day, referring to India’s decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Principal Dow International Medical College Prof. Dr. Uzma Bukhari, Prof. Dr. Khursheed Ahmed Samo, Prof. Asma Faisal, and other speakers reiterated Pakistan’s support for resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with UN resolutions. They called on the international community to support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

The speakers said Pakistan observes Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir every year to reaffirm its moral, political, and diplomatic support for Kashmiris.

Registrar Dr. Ashraf Afaq, Prof. Shumaila Khalid, Dr. Sanam Soomro, Prof. Danish Hussain, faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of students participated in the walks. Participants carried Pakistani and Kashmiri flags, banners, and placards while chanting slogans in support of the Kashmiri people.
