KARACHI, October 5, 2026: Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) Chairman Malik Khuda Bakhsh has said the association’s leadership is committed to resolving dealers’ issues on a priority basis and protecting their legitimate interests.
He said every PPDA member has the freedom to express their views. He also praised petroleum dealers for their role in making Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Fuel Relief Package successful.
“Petroleum dealers across the country are implementing the Fuel Relief Package,” Malik Khuda Bakhsh said while speaking at a dinner hosted by PPDA Vice Chairman Anwar Kamal in honour of journalists.
PPDA Vice Chairman Malik Sher Khan and Tariq Hassan also attended the event.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh said Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik had assured the association that consultation with petroleum dealers would be accelerated and made more effective.
He said the association believes that dealers’ issues can only be resolved through dialogue and mutual consultation.
“We will continue to support all positive government policies. However, the government must also fulfill its commitments to the leadership of petroleum dealers,” he said.
Commenting on the government’s electric vehicle (EV) policy, Malik Khuda Bakhsh said greater incentives for EVs and charging infrastructure could help Pakistan reduce its dependence on imported fuel.
He said promoting solar energy and electric vehicles could also help reduce pressure on petrol and electricity costs.
The PPDA chairman said the association wanted to resolve all outstanding issues through negotiations. He added that the association would work with oil marketing companies to reach solutions acceptable to both dealers and OMCs.
Malik Sher Khan said the problems faced by petroleum dealers could not be ignored indefinitely. He noted that the sector supports thousands of businesses and provides employment to millions of people.
Anwar Kamal said petroleum dealers play an important role in Pakistan’s economy and energy sector. However, rising operating costs, additional charges, rent-related imbalances and other challenges are making it increasingly difficult for dealers to sustain their businesses.
Tariq Hassan said the PPDA would not compromise on the legitimate rights and interests of petroleum dealers. He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to protecting dealers and resolving their issues through dialogue and consultation.
