Sabri Sisters Take Center Stage in New York’s Times Square as Spotify’s EQUAL Pakistan Ambassadors for Q2 2026

KARACHI, June 23, 2026: The Sabri Sisters have taken their music to one of the world’s most iconic stages. As Spotify’s EQUAL Pakistan Ambassadors for Q2 2026, Sanam and Anamta Sabri appeared on Spotify’s Times Square billboard in New York on June 17. With this achievement, the duo joined a growing list of Pakistani women artists showcased globally through Spotify’s EQUAL program. Moreover, they continue to break barriers in qawwali and Sufi music, genres traditionally dominated by men.

The Sabri Sisters carry a rich musical legacy. They are the nieces of the late Amjad Sabri and direct descendants of the legendary Sabri Brothers. However, they have also built a distinct identity of their own. In 2017, they gained national attention after releasing a Persian-Punjabi manqabat in tribute to their late uncle. Since then, they have delivered several successful projects, including the hit OST Meri Zindagi Hai Tu with Asim Azhar and the viral track Maghron La.

Meanwhile, Meri Zindagi Hai Tu has emerged as the duo’s biggest success on Spotify. The song spent more than 30 weeks on Spotify’s “Top 50 – Pakistan” chart. In addition, it featured on popular playlists such as EQUAL, Pakka Hit Hai, and Hot Hits Pakistan. Today, it remains their most-streamed track.

Furthermore, Spotify data shows the duo’s growing international appeal. Their music attracts listeners from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Bangladesh, alongside Pakistan.

Interestingly, the Sabri Sisters are also connecting with younger audiences. Nearly half of their listeners fall within the 18-24 age group. As a result, they are introducing Sufi and qawwali traditions to a new generation of music fans.

Speaking about the recognition, the Sabri Sisters said Spotify’s EQUAL Pakistan platform gives Pakistani artists valuable global exposure. They added that joining the list of EQUAL Ambassadors feels both exciting and humbling, especially since legendary artists such as Abida Parveen and Sanam Marvi have previously represented Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Rutaba Yaqub, Artists and Label Partnerships Manager at Spotify for Pakistan and UAE, said the EQUAL program celebrates artists who reflect the diversity and creativity of Pakistan’s music industry. She added that the Sabri Sisters are expanding the boundaries of qawwali while preserving its rich heritage.

Through the EQUAL Pakistan initiative, Spotify continues to support women artists and amplify their voices globally. Consequently, the recognition of the Sabri Sisters highlights both their individual journey and the growing international appeal of Pakistani music.
