Sindh Police Expands Security Measures, Enhances Crime-Fighting Capacity

KARACHI ,June 24,2026 : Sindh Police has stepped up efforts to strengthen public safety, improve operational readiness, and enhance crime-fighting capabilities across the province under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javed Alam Odho.

As part of these efforts, Sindh Police inducted 25 new patrol vehicles into its operational fleet. The force has deployed the vehicles on Bhutto Highway, in Karachi’s Red Zone, and along major roads to improve patrolling and response times. Senior police officials, including the Additional IG Operations and Deputy Inspectors General, attended the inauguration ceremony at the Central Police Office.

IGP Javed Alam Odho directed officers to increase motorcycle patrolling to curb street crime and ensure proper maintenance of the newly inducted vehicles. He emphasized the need to improve operational efficiency while ensuring prudent use of resources.

Meanwhile, Sindh Police achieved a major breakthrough in the investigation of a high-profile cash van robbery within the jurisdiction of Joharabad Police Station. Investigators traced the case, arrested the principal suspect, and recovered Rs2 billion from the stolen amount of Rs3 billion.

The IGP commended DIG West Irfan Baloch, SSP Central Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan, investigation officers, SDPOs, SHO Joharabad, and other members of the investigation team for their performance. He also announced commendation certificates and a cash reward of Rs500,000 for the officers involved in the operation.

In a separate development, the police chief ordered detailed investigations into two serious incidents. He sought an immediate report on the recovery of a three-year-old girl’s body in Quaidabad, Malir, and directed officers to conduct a thorough inquiry. He also took notice of the killing of police constable Niaz Ahmed Wadhyo in Garhi Yaseen, Shikarpur, and instructed authorities to ensure a transparent investigation while extending support to the victim’s family.

Sindh Police has also finalized extensive security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi and Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan reviewed security measures along the routes of central processions, while DIG East Dr. Farrukh Ali chaired a security coordination meeting.

Authorities have deployed thousands of police personnel at key locations across Karachi. Security measures include strict monitoring of entry and exit points, installation of walk-through gates, deployment of metal detectors, and enhanced CCTV surveillance to ensure peaceful observance of religious events.

Police officials said the force remains committed to maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring public safety through improved resources, professional policing, and coordinated security planning.
