Visa Launches Cyber Threat Intelligence Platform to Help Banks Prevent Fraud

KARACHI July 2,2026 : Visa has launched the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform (VTIP), a new cybersecurity solution that helps financial institutions detect cyber threats early and prevent fraud before financial losses occur.

The platform uses the same cybersecurity capabilities Visa employs to protect its global payments network. It combines cyber and payment intelligence to help banks identify threats, assess risks, and respond more quickly.

Visa said most payment fraud begins with cyber incidents such as data breaches, credential theft, or system attacks. Stolen payment credentials often circulate on the dark web before criminals use them for fraudulent transactions.

Walter Lironi, Senior Vice President and Head of Value-Added Services for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA), said cyberattacks are becoming more frequent and sophisticated. He added that VTIP gives financial institutions clearer and more actionable intelligence, allowing them to stop threats before they lead to fraud.

Visa developed and tested the platform using its own global cybersecurity infrastructure. The company said it blocks around 90 million cyberattacks and 11 million phishing emails every month across more than 200 countries.

The new platform offers several tools, including threat intelligence, vulnerability monitoring, brand protection, digital identity monitoring, and financial intelligence. It also identifies compromised payment credentials from the dark web and enriches the data with VisaNet insights to help fraud and risk teams take timely action.

Visa said the platform enables financial institutions to connect cybersecurity incidents with potential payment fraud, prioritize responses, and reduce financial losses.

The company has invested more than $13 billion in technology over the past five years to strengthen payment security and combat fraud. Visa said VTIP expands those capabilities to financial institutions, helping them improve cyber resilience and strengthen trust across the digital payments ecosystem.
