Sanya hosts Chefs de Mission seminar for 6th Asian Beach Games

Sanya hosted the Chefs de Mission Seminar for the 6th Asian Beach Games, with forty-five Asian National Olympic Committees joining discussions to review progress and share updates on the Sanya Asian Beach Games seminar.

The meeting, held on December 1 in Hainan Province, included heads of delegations who examined operational plans, evaluated timelines, and assessed readiness for the major continental event scheduled to take place in April 2026.

Organizers said the seminar marked a key step in preparing for a large multi-sport event, offering delegates detailed briefings on sixteen essential topics crucial to the smooth running of the upcoming competition.

These topics covered event organization, service support, registration procedures, accreditation processes, transportation management, arrival and departure services, protocol arrangements, and complete planning for opening and closing ceremonies.

Committee officials also highlighted cultural activity schedules, athlete services, venue design, and emergency response systems, ensuring the delegations were well informed about all operational areas before the Games.

In addition, the Organizing Committee distributed the Chefs de Mission Handbook, which compiles event policies, operational guidelines, timelines, and core instructions to assist each participating delegation in handling preparations.

The Asian Beach Games, one of the five major multi-sport events organized by the Olympic Council of Asia, remain the continent’s biggest dedicated beach and water sports competition.

The 2026 edition in Sanya will be held from April 22 to April 30, featuring fourteen sports, fifteen disciplines, and sixty-three medal events, including swimming, beach handball, beach kabaddi, and several coastal endurance competitions.

Most competition venues are located along natural coastlines, reflecting a strong focus on blending sporting structures with Hainan’s scenic beauty and promoting environmentally friendly venue development.

Organizers emphasized that venue designs incorporate sustainability principles, energy-efficient features, and natural surroundings, offering athletes and spectators an immersive beach sports atmosphere throughout the Games.

Vinod Kumar Tiwari, deputy secretary general of the Olympic Council of Asia, praised Sanya’s planning, calling it innovative and environmentally responsible, while noting strong coordination and impressive integration of landscapes and sports.

He added that the event will not only showcase athletic excellence but also strengthen cultural exchange, promote regional unity, and advance cooperation among Asian countries and sporting communities.

The Sanya Asian Beach Games seminar concluded with renewed commitment from all participating delegations to support preparations and ensure a successful sporting festival for Asia in 2026.
