KARACHI, May 26, 2026: Pakistan’s local mobile phone manufacturing and assembly witnessed a sharp monthly decline of 35% in April 2026, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, highlighting a slowdown in production momentum despite continued reliance on domestic output to meet demand.
Local manufacturers and assemblers produced 1.81 million mobile phone units in April 2026, down from 2.79 million units in March 2026. On a cumulative basis, total production reached 9.17 million units during the first four months of 2026.
According to the PTA, year-on-year comparison for April 2026 and the 4M2026 period could not be made due to the availability of consolidated figures for April and May 2025.
Despite the monthly decline, Pakistan continued to meet a significant share of domestic demand through local production. In April 2026, 83% of mobile phone demand was fulfilled through local manufacturing and assembly, compared to 89% in March 2026. For the cumulative 4M2026 period, the localization ratio stood at 85%, reflecting the ongoing dominance of locally assembled devices in the market even amid fluctuating monthly output trends.
