KARACHI: Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, H.E. Muhammad Sakib Sadakat, called on Pakistan and Bangladesh to strengthen bilateral trade and expand economic cooperation through closer business-to-business engagement. He said both countries have significant untapped commercial potential that can be unlocked through stronger collaboration and regular trade exchanges.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of the S.I.T.E. Association of Industry (SAI), Sadakat invited Pakistani industrialists to visit Bangladesh to explore trade and investment opportunities. He also assured them of the High Commission’s full support in building business contacts and improving market access.
SAI President Abdul Rehman Fudda led the delegation, which included Senior Vice President Ahmed Zulfiqar Chaudhry, Vice President Muhammad Tahir Goreja, former President Abdul Rasheed, and Chairman of the International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs Committee Junaid-ur-Rehman.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to expand bilateral trade, diversify traded products, strengthen business-to-business links, and improve overall trade connectivity.
Meanwhile, SAI members urged both governments to increase direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh and expand sea cargo services. They said better logistics would lower transportation costs and significantly boost bilateral trade.
Furthermore, Sadakat encouraged Pakistani exporters to study Bangladesh’s market and tailor their products to local demand. He described Bangladesh as a promising destination for Pakistani exports and investment. He also assured the delegation that the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission would provide every possible assistance to businesses seeking to enter the Bangladeshi market.
He emphasized that stronger private-sector engagement and closer institutional cooperation would help unlock the full potential of bilateral trade and investment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the SAI delegation invited the Deputy High Commissioner to visit the association at a mutually convenient date to further strengthen cooperation between the business communities of both countries
