KARACHI, August 11, 2026: Pakistan’s car sales increased sharply in July 2026, rising 79% year-on-year to 19,818 units, according to data reported by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
However, sales declined 13% month-on-month during the month. The annual increase was driven by new market entrants, new vehicle launches and stronger auto financing. Meanwhile, uncertainty surrounding the new auto policy affected monthly sales.
Indus Motor Company (INDU) was the only major automaker to record monthly growth. The company sold 5,089 units in July, up 53% year-on-year and 45% month-on-month. This marked around a four-year high for the company.
Strong demand for Corolla, Yaris and Cross models drove the increase. Combined sales of these models rose 77% year-on-year and 62% month-on-month to 4,283 units. Meanwhile, Fortuner and IMV sales declined 12% year-on-year and 6% month-on-month to 806 units.
Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) recorded a 76% year-on-year increase in sales but declined 11% month-on-month. The company sold 2,640 units in July. City and Civic sales increased 2.2 times year-on-year but declined 3% month-on-month to 2,529 units. BR-V and HR-V sales fell 69% year-on-year and 71% month-on-month to 111 units.
Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) remained the largest seller among the reported automakers. Its sales reached 10,120 units, up 2.8 times year-on-year but down 12% month-on-month. Alto sales stood at 7,217 units, while Swift sales reached 2,018 units.
Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) reported 663 units in July, marking a 15-month low. Sales fell 39% year-on-year and 76% month-on-month. Hyundai Nishat Motors also recorded weaker sales, with volumes declining 42% year-on-year and 47% month-on-month to 710 units.
Two- and three-wheeler sales increased 38% year-on-year but declined 4% month-on-month to 172,416 units in July. Tractor sales rose 4% year-on-year but fell 59% month-on-month to 1,242 units.
Truck and bus sales surged 2.5 times year-on-year but declined 10% month-on-month to 919 units.
Despite the monthly decline, the outlook for Pakistan’s auto sector remains positive. Analysts expect double-digit growth in FY27, supported by new vehicle variants and the entry of new brands into the market.
Overall, the July figures show a strong annual recovery in Pakistan’s automobile sector. However, uncertainty over the new auto policy remains a key factor affecting short-term sales trends.
