KARACHI, August 11, 2026: The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has given the government a 72-hour ultimatum to address its outstanding demands. The association warned that petrol pumps across the country will shut down indefinitely if the issues remain unresolved.
PPDA Chairman Malik Khuda Bakhsh issued the warning at a press conference. Vice Chairman Tariq Hassan, Anwar Kamal, Malik Sher Khan, Sindh Region President Haji Ameer Khan, Karachi President Saeed Khan and other office-bearers also attended the press conference.
Khuda Bakhsh said petroleum dealers could no longer operate their businesses under the current conditions. He said dealers from across the country had agreed to demand an 8 percent margin on petrol.
He added that more than 14,000 association members were pressing the PPDA to take immediate action to address their concerns.
The PPDA chairman warned that petrol pumps across the country would close indefinitely from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, if the government failed to accept their demands within 72 hours. He said the stations would remain closed until the government resolved the issues.
The association also expressed serious concerns over the newly introduced 24-hour fuel price change mechanism. Khuda Bakhsh said the system was impractical and had created administrative difficulties and financial uncertainty for petroleum dealers.
He reiterated the demand for a minimum 8 percent commission on the retail sale price. According to him, the existing margin is insufficient to cover rising inflation, electricity and gas bills, employee salaries and other operating expenses.
The PPDA Executive Committee had earlier criticized the Company Allocation Policy, calling it discriminatory and harmful to the business interests of petroleum dealers. The association demanded an immediate review of the policy and urged the authorities to introduce a transparent and fair system.
“We are giving the government a final 72-hour deadline to resolve our issues. If our legitimate demands are not addressed, we will have no option but to shut down fuel stations across the country,” Khuda Bakhsh said.
Meanwhile, the PPDA reiterated its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with the government, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), oil marketing companies and other relevant institutions.
However, the association stressed that the government must take immediate and practical steps to protect petroleum dealers and ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country.
