KARACHI 21-05-2026: Nehal Hashmi, Governor of Sindh, appreciated the services of Atif Farooqi for promoting bilateral trade between Pakistan and Romania over the past 26 years, stating that he has played a key role in strengthening commercial relations between the two countries.
The Governor also praised the efforts of the Pakistan Romania Business Council in promoting trade diplomacy and private-sector cooperation.
He expressed these views during a meeting at the Governor House with Atif Farooqi, Advisor and Chief Operating Officer of the Pakistan Romania Business Council, and Sohail Shamim Firpo, Chairman of PRBC.
During the meeting, both sides discussed various aspects of further enhancing bilateral relations, trade, and investment between Pakistan and Romania.
The meeting also highlighted the growing opportunities for cooperation in maritime trade, logistics, agriculture, industry, and information technology. Both sides emphasized that by continuously strengthening institutional linkages, new avenues for business-to-business cooperation and economic partnership could be developed.
Commenting on the recent KPT–Constanța Port Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Atif Farooqi said that the agreement reflects the vision of Dan Stoenescu, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, and could help position Romania as an important gateway for Pakistan to access European Union markets.
He added that the initiative would help strengthen maritime connectivity, improve trade facilitation, and create new opportunities for exporters and importers of both countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding mutual engagement and exploring practical initiatives to transform bilateral goodwill into tangible economic outcomes.
