Bank Alfalah Partners with KMC, IET to Launch Urban Forestry Project in Karachi

KARACHI July14,2026: Bank Alfalah has partnered with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Indus Earth Trust (IET) to launch an urban forestry project at Ibn-e-Qasim Park in Clifton. The bank has committed an initial investment of Rs3 million for the initiative.

Bank Alfalah President and CEO Atif Bajwa and IET CEO Aijaz Ali Abro signed the MoU to formalize the partnership.

The project will start with the development of a plantation area inside the park. It aims to reduce urban heat, improve air quality, promote biodiversity and strengthen Karachi’s climate resilience.

Speaking on the occasion, Atif Bajwa said parks serve as the lungs of every city, and Karachi needs more green spaces. He added that Bank Alfalah is proud to support projects that improve the city’s environment through strong partnerships.

Meanwhile, IET President Afia Salam said the initiative highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in restoring urban ecosystems through native tree plantations and community participation.

During the event, Bank Alfalah also unveiled its fourth Annual Sustainability Report. The report highlighted Rs24 billion in green financing and Rs75.2 billion in financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
