August 13, 2026 — Karachi: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture and Chairman of the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board (QMMB), Aurangzaib Khan Khichi, chaired the board’s 102nd meeting in Karachi.
The meeting focused on the preservation and relocation of the historic chandelier from the Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum to the National Museum. The board also discussed a shuttle service for visitors to Bagh-e-Quaid, the approval of a time scale for QMMB employees and future commercial activities on vacant peripheral land.
Minister Khichi directed NESPAK to resolve the long-pending chandelier restoration issue on a priority basis. He urged the organization to approach the matter in the spirit of national service rather than commercial considerations.
The minister noted that the historic chandelier has remained removed from its original location since 2016. He said its restoration has faced repeated delays due to financial and procedural issues related to NESPAK’s proposal.
Khichi also appreciated Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for his cooperation and support. He said the provincial government’s assistance had helped QMMB manage its operations in Karachi and maintain the Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum.
The board also considered a proposal to introduce a shuttle service for visitors to Bagh-e-Quaid. The proposed service aims to improve accessibility and provide a better experience for visitors.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture Division, senior ministry officials, QMMB members and senior officials from NESPAK.
