KARACHI, August 19, 2026: President Pakistan Business Forum Sindh Region and Chairman Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) Malik Khuda Bakhsh has said that positive results of the government’s economic policies are becoming visible, restoring confidence among businesses and the public.
He said measures taken to promote economic stability, national security and administrative reforms have helped improve confidence. However, he stressed that fundamental reforms in the fiscal and administrative systems are essential to sustain progress.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh called for a clear division of responsibilities between the federal and provincial governments regarding tax collection, expenditures and resource distribution. He said the upcoming National Finance Commission (NFC) should review fiscal powers and responsibilities rather than focusing only on resource distribution.
He proposed simplifying the tax system and making it transparent and business-friendly. He also called for integrating digital tax records and introducing a unified system to reduce complexities for taxpayers dealing with different government departments.
He welcomed efforts to document the economy and broaden the tax base, but said traders and industrialists should be taken into confidence to make these reforms more effective.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh also urged the government to reform the administrative structure in view of Pakistan’s growing population and economic needs. He called for measures to facilitate businesses, reduce energy costs, increase industrial production and boost exports.
He said stronger coordination between the government and private sector is essential for sustainable economic growth. He expressed hope that the government would maintain policy continuity and incorporate business community recommendations into fiscal, budgetary and administrative reforms to increase investment, employment and economic activity.
