Rhea Seehorn has revealed that she committed to starring in the science-fiction drama Pluribus without first reading the script, citing her long-standing creative trust in series creator Vince Gilligan.
Speaking backstage after winning Best Actress in a Drama Series at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards, Seehorn explained that her decision to take on the lead role was immediate once Gilligan approached her with the project.

The actress, who previously collaborated with Gilligan on Better Call Saul, said their working relationship played a key role in her choice. She described having an effortless creative chemistry with the writer-producer, adding that she would follow his vision without hesitation.
According to Seehorn, Gilligan contacted her to say he was developing a role specifically for her but was not yet ready to share the script. Despite that, she said she agreed on the spot, trusting his storytelling instincts and direction.

Seehorn stars in Pluribus as Carol Sturka, a romance novelist who becomes one of just 13 people immune to a mysterious alien virus. In the series, the virus transforms billions of people into an unsettlingly content collective hive mind, leaving the remaining few to navigate a radically altered world.
Season one of Pluribus is currently streaming on Apple TV+, and the platform has already renewed the series for a second season following strong critical response.
