Karachi’s Growth Vital for Pakistan’s Economy, Says Karamullah Waqasi

KARACHI, Aug. 3, 2026: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Karachi Mayor’s spokesperson Karamullah Waqasi said Karachi’s economic growth is essential for Pakistan’s long-term stability and prosperity, adding that the party is taking practical steps to improve infrastructure, strengthen industry, and enhance public services.

Waqasi said authorities are taking emergency measures to resolve long-standing issues in the North Karachi Industrial Area. He noted that improving industrial infrastructure will boost investment, create jobs, and strengthen business confidence.

Furthermore, he said development projects are moving ahead under the leadership of Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab. Restoration and beautification work on the newly rebuilt footpaths along Jahangir Road is progressing rapidly following the mayor’s plan to upgrade major roads, green belts, and pedestrian walkways.

Meanwhile, Waqasi said the city has prioritized the rehabilitation of neglected roads. He highlighted the reconstruction of the 1.8-kilometre Didax Road, linking Khawaja Ajmer Nagri with Manghopir Road, as a key project to improve connectivity and transport infrastructure.

In addition, he said work on Turi Bangash Road, Baldia Market, and the Baldia Sports Complex is advancing quickly. The dual carriageway of Turi Bangash Road will open soon, easing traffic congestion for thousands of commuters.

Waqasi also said he inspected the under-construction cemetery in the North Karachi Industrial Area on the mayor’s directives. He instructed officials to complete the project on time and maintain high construction standards.

Separately, he chaired a meeting with K-Electric officials, community representatives, and party workers to address electricity load-shedding and billing complaints in Gizri. K-Electric officials assured participants they would work to resolve the issues promptly.

Finally, Waqasi reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to accelerating Karachi’s development, promoting industrial growth, improving civic infrastructure, and delivering lasting solutions to public issues. He said a strong and modern Karachi remains critical to Pakistan’s economic future.
