KARACHI, May 20, 2026: aik by BankIslami has introduced Raast QR payments in cattle markets across Pakistan ahead of Eid-ul-Azha 2026. The initiative supports the State Bank of Pakistan’s Go-Cashless campaign and aims to digitize traditionally cash-heavy marketplaces.

As a result, buyers and merchants can now complete transactions more easily and securely through digital payments. Moreover, the move strengthens Pakistan’s broader shift toward a cashless economy.

The inauguration ceremony brought together senior officials from the State Bank of Pakistan and government institutions. These included aik Chief Officer Ashfaque Ahmed, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, SBP Director and Chief Manager Shakeel Paracha, Deputy Chief Manager Financial Inclusion Division Sara Junaid, and Senior Officer Daniyal Khan.

During the event, SBP officials appreciated aik by BankIslami’s efforts to expand digital payments and promote financial inclusion across Pakistan.

Speaking on the initiative, Chief Officer Ashfaque Ahmed said Pakistan’s cattle markets handle billions of rupees each Eid, mostly in cash. Therefore, he said aik is offering a safer and more seamless alternative through Raast QR payments. He added that the initiative also supports the growth of a Riba-free banking ecosystem.

Meanwhile, officials noted that the Go-Cashless campaign continues to expand each year. In line with this vision, aik by BankIslami is working with the government to accelerate digital transformation and advance a cashless Pakistan.

Furthermore, the initiative targets Pakistan’s most cash-dependent marketplaces. It aims to bridge the gap between modern financial technology and traditional trading systems.

Overall, aik by BankIslami said the project reflects its mission to modernize Shariah-compliant financial services. It also supports a future where Pakistanis can transact with greater confidence, convenience, and transparency.
