Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that solving the Kashmir dispute is a key part of Pakistan’s foreign policy. In his message on Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation), he called on the world to stop India’s human rights violations in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and to reverse its unilateral actions of August 5, 2019.
The prime minister said India’s decision to change Kashmir’s special status in 2019 was illegal and goes against international law and United Nations resolutions.
“We stand with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters. We strongly reject India’s actions and support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination,” said PM Shehbaz.
He said India is using force and harsh laws to control the region, and this is a major reason for instability in South Asia. He added that Kashmiri leaders like Yasin Malik and Shabbir Shah are being jailed, but this will not break the spirit of the Kashmiri people.
“The courage and resistance of the Kashmiri people is an inspiration for us all,” he added.
PM Shehbaz also mentioned India’s aggression against Pakistan in May 2025, which he said ended in a clear defeat for India. He urged the international community to take serious steps to help solve the Kashmir issue.
He ended by saying that Pakistan will continue to support the Kashmiri people politically, morally, and diplomatically until they get their right to choose their future freely.
