Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State Tahesha Way said several polling stations received emailed threats, but rapid assessments by law enforcement found no credible danger.

Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin (misreported as Pelican in some early reports) said polling locations in Bergen, Essex, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Passaic counties were targeted. Some sites reopened quickly after being cleared, while others temporarily directed voters to alternate polling locations.

“Voters should be confident they can cast their ballots without fear or intimidation,” Platkin said. “We will not tolerate any attempt to interfere with the election, and anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”

In Newark, police confirmed that a false bomb threat at a Gothard Street polling station originated from phishing emails, with investigators now tracing the source.
