Iraqi Scholar Credits CPC’s People-Centered Approach for China’s Rise

BAGHDAD July 11,2026: An Iraqi political scholar has credited the Communist Party of China (CPC) for transforming China into the world’s second-largest economy by consistently putting people at the center of its development strategy.

Speaking to Xinhua ahead of the CPC’s 105th founding anniversary, Kawa Mahmoud, President of the Iraq-based Global Civilization Initiative Research Center, said the party’s greatest strength is its commitment to serving the people.

“The CPC has always carried the aspirations of the Chinese people,” Mahmoud said. He noted that despite its small size at its founding, the party led efforts to resist foreign aggression, protect national independence and pursue national rejuvenation.

He also praised the CPC for continuously adapting its policies to meet public needs through innovation in both theory and practice.

Furthermore, Mahmoud said the party has built a governance model based on close ties with the people, effective communication between leaders and grassroots members, and broad public participation.

According to him, political and social stability have created a strong foundation for China’s rapid development. At the same time, independent policymaking has allowed the country to prioritize public welfare.

Mahmoud said China’s development model reflects its own national conditions. However, he added that its broader lesson is that every country should pursue development based on its own realities while keeping people’s well-being at the center.

He also emphasized that Chinese modernization goes beyond building infrastructure. Instead, it focuses on eliminating poverty, fighting desertification, protecting the environment and improving both the material and spiritual well-being of citizens.

Moreover, Mahmoud said the CPC measures development by improvements in people’s lives rather than economic indicators alone. He argued that this approach differs from development models that primarily benefit economic elites.

Looking ahead, Mahmoud expressed confidence that the CPC will continue leading China toward national rejuvenation while contributing its governance experience and development model to the international community.
