KARACHI, May 13, 2026: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has received approximately $1.3 billion from the International Monetary Fund under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) programs, providing further support to Pakistan’s external financial position.

According to the State Bank, the IMF Executive Board completed the third review under the EFF during its meeting held on May 8, 2026, and approved the disbursement of SDR 760 million for Pakistan.

In addition, the IMF Board also approved the second tranche of SDR 154 million under the RSF program aimed at supporting climate resilience and sustainable economic reforms.

The State Bank said it received a total of SDR 914 million, equivalent to around $1.3 billion, from the IMF on May 12, 2026.

The inflows will be reflected in the SBP’s foreign exchange reserves for the week ending May 15, 2026, the statement added.

The latest disbursement is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and provide support to the country’s ongoing economic stabilization efforts amid fiscal and external sector challenges.
