KARACHI, September 1, 2025: Malik Muhammad Bostan, Chairman of the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan and the Forex Association of Pakistan, has expressed deep sorrow over the widespread devastation caused by recent floods in Punjab, while calling for greater unity and stronger federal-level coordination to support victims.
In a statement, Bostan commended the Punjab government’s relief efforts but stressed that the magnitude of the crisis requires urgent and comprehensive national action. “We fully understand the suffering of the flood victims. This is a time for unity and collective response,” he said.
Official data shows that more than 1.8 million people have been directly affected, with many losing their homes and forced to live under open skies. Bostan urged political parties to set aside point-scoring and instead contribute meaningfully through relocation, relief, and long-term rehabilitation efforts.
Placing the crisis in a regional context, Bostan accused India of “resorting to water terrorism” after what he described as its defeat in conventional warfare. “Under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Pakistan Army, government, and the nation stand united and we will defeat India in this water war as well,” he asserted.
He praised the swift response of the Pakistan Armed Forces, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and provincial administrations in launching relief operations, but cautioned that floodwaters were now moving toward Sindh. He called on authorities to take preventive measures, especially as the Meteorological Department has forecast further heavy rains in Karachi and other districts.
“If timely measures are not taken, the city may once again be submerged, causing severe hardships for the people,” Bostan warned.
