Sindh Seed Corporation Board Takes Major Steps for Organizational Revamp

Karachi – August 5, 2025: The Sindh Seed Corporation Board held a key meeting on Monday at the Sindh Secretariat, chaired by Provincial Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Maher, to review organizational performance and chart a path forward for institutional improvement.

The high-level meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers Jam Khan Shoro and Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Secretary Agriculture Muhammad Zaman Narejo, Managing Director Mustaq Soomro, Additional Secretary Ardis Khoso, Deputy Secretaries Ahmed Ali Sheikh and Khalid Malik, DG Research Mazhar Karyo, and other relevant officials.

Managing Director Mustaq Soomro presented a comprehensive performance report on the Seed Corporation. The board discussed strategies for improvement and resolved to establish a Management Board for better handling of administrative functions. It was also proposed that the Sindh government be approached for financial assistance to set up Paddy and Wheat Processing Plants to strengthen the Corporation’s seed supply chain.

In a forward-looking suggestion, Minister Jam Khan Shoro recommended that the CEO of Sindh Seed Corporation be assigned market-level responsibilities to remain closely aligned with farmer needs and market dynamics.

Agriculture Minister Maher affirmed that new appointments would soon be made to the board and emphasized that the Corporation would engage with agricultural experts to enhance its performance and outreach.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to farmers, Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah remarked, “Our objective is to ensure that every farmer in Sindh receives high-quality seeds on time and benefits from the services of the Seed Corporation.”

These developments mark a significant step toward re vitalizing Sindh’s seed sector and strengthening support for the province’s agricultural backbone.
