BYD partnership signals rising corporate stakes in Karachi

Karachi, November 14, 2025: In a strategic move reflecting the growing commercial value of Pakistan’s sports economy, Mega Motor Company (MMC), the official partner of BYD in Pakistan, has joined hands with the Karachi Marathon 2026 — the country’s first World Athletics–Certified marathon.

The collaboration underscores how global mobility brands are increasingly treating Pakistan’s sporting events as high-impact marketing and community-building platforms.

The agreement was signed at BYD Pakistan’s Karachi Experience Center, where MMC and BYD executives met with representatives from the marathon organizing committee.

Cricket star Misbah-ul-Haq attended as a special guest, highlighting the rising crossover between traditional sports icons and the expanding endurance-sports culture.

At the heart of the partnership is BYD SHARK 6, which will serve as the marathon’s official ‘timer car’. Its role symbolizes the shift toward smart mobility and precision-based sporting logistics, elements that organizers view as crucial for elevating the event’s global credibility.

The Karachi Marathon aims to support Vision 2032 — a long-term plan enabling Pakistani runners to qualify for major international races and ultimately the Olympics.

MMC Vice President Sales & Strategy Danish Khaliq said the company views the marathon as a vehicle for promoting community wellbeing, sustainability and performance.

He confirmed MMC will sponsor two top national marathon runners, helping them train and compete internationally before the 2026 race. The company believes its involvement strengthens its dual strategy of mobility leadership and social impact.

BYD Pakistan Country Manager Lei Jian emphasized that the Karachi Marathon reflects the company’s broader vision of aligning mobility innovation with community health and environmental responsibility.

He said the event embodies “collective spirit, endurance and positive energy,” values BYD aims to advance as it promotes new energy vehicles (NEVs) across Pakistan.

A representative of the Karachi Marathon organizing committee added that BYD’s partnership directly supports Vision 2032 by converting long-term ambitions into measurable outcomes for Pakistani athletes.

With MMC already active in national sports through its association with the HBL PSL, this collaboration builds momentum for continued investment in athletic development and sports-centric branding.
