Karachi Moves Toward Collaborative Policing Under IG Javed Alam Odho

KARACHI ,May 21,2026: In a large and complex city like Karachi, law and order, the economy, and the rule of law remain closely connected. Recently, Inspector General Sindh Javed Alam Odho led a series of meetings that reflected stronger coordination between state institutions instead of isolated decision-making.

First, IG Sindh held a meeting at the Central Police Office Karachi with a four-member delegation of the Sindh Bar Council. Vice Chairman Ishtiaq Ahmed Memon led the delegation, while Ayaz Tanio, Riaz Ahmed Bhatti, and Arjun Prasad also attended. DIG Headquarters and AIG Legal were present as well.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the protest by students of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University, issues faced by lawyers, security concerns, and legal matters. Moreover, Javed Alam Odho said the legal community plays a vital role in ensuring justice and strengthening the rule of law. Therefore, he stressed that better coordination between police and lawyers can improve the justice system.

In addition, the statement highlighted an important reality. In any civilized society, police and lawyers support the same justice system instead of working against each other.

Meanwhile, IG Sindh also visited the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. President Rehan Hanif, former president Zubair Motiwala, Senior Vice President Muhammad Raza, Vice President Muhammad Arif Lakhani, business leaders, and police officials welcomed him.

During the meeting, the business community appreciated improvements in law and order, especially in the Kacha areas. They also expressed greater confidence in Karachi’s security situation. As a result, the meeting strengthened trust between law enforcement agencies and the business sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Javed Alam Odho said peace and security remain essential for industrial and commercial growth. Furthermore, he said Sindh Police highly values cooperation with the business community. He also highlighted ongoing operations against dacoits in Kacha areas, highway security measures, and anti-drug actions as key priorities.

At the same time, strict action against drugs, traffic reforms, and operations against illegal vehicles showed that authorities are adopting a broader strategy to improve urban life.

However, the real importance of these meetings goes beyond official statements. Instead, they reflect a wider approach where police, lawyers, and business leaders sit together to discuss problems and develop solutions.

In a city like Karachi, where challenges remain complex, dialogue and mutual trust can create real progress. Consequently, such engagement can improve law and order while also restoring public confidence in institutions.

Overall, the initiatives under Javed Alam Odho’s leadership point toward a more coordinated system. In this approach, police not only enforce the law but also work as facilitators alongside lawyers and the business community to build a safer and more stable society.
