BOSTON/KARACHI, June 2, 2026: Pakistan achieves a historic milestone as renowned philatelist M. Arif Balgamwala T.I. becomes the first Pakistani inducted into the Court of Honor at the Boston 2026 World Stamp Expo. The event ran from May 23 to 30, 2026, and stands as the world’s most prestigious philatelic exhibition. Significantly, Pakistan receives this honour for the first time in 79 years of participation.
This year, the Expo brings together participants from 65 countries. As a result, Balgamwala’s achievement places Pakistan among the world’s top philatelic collectors in an elite global forum.
Moreover, Balgamwala earns this recognition after more than 20 years of dedication. His collection on British Indian Airmails (1911–1936), displayed in Frames 66–73, secures his place in the Court of Honor alongside the finest global exhibits.
Importantly, the Court of Honor accepts only highly qualified collectors. Applicants must first win three Gold Medals at World Stamp Exhibitions in different years. In addition, they must also secure three Large Gold Medals across separate years. After meeting these requirements, the host country may extend an invitation.
Balgamwala completes this long journey with persistence. He earns his last Large Gold Medal at Washington 2006. Therefore, his Boston 2026 recognition comes after a 20-year gap. He also holds a place on the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists, one of the highest global honors in philately.
Speaking at the event, Balgamwala says, “After 20 years of hard work and effort, I finally achieved this. This is a first for Pakistan.”
Beyond philately, he also contributes to cultural diplomacy. He designs US coins and stamps in Pakistan and strengthens Pakistan–USA relations through cultural exchange. As a result, he earns recognition as a cultural ambassador between both countries.
Finally, Pakistan’s philatelic community celebrates this achievement. They note that the Court of Honor represents the highest level in competitive philately. Therefore, they view Balgamwala’s induction as a national milestone and a moment of pride for Pakistan on the global stage.
